Zoriontsu

Between ocean and mountain, caught in the middle of water and fire, energy drained, muscles exhausted, the battle awaits after the deceivingly short approach through the gorge. The cave swallows us into its coldness, the gate opens and war happens upon us, so instantly, so unexpectedly that a blink away sweat and blood cover our hands. Despite the waterfall and the crushing waves, there is some kind of deep and deafening silence only interrupted by ephemeral grunts and screams that accompany critical blows.

We cover our backs, protect each other, defend and encourage, we feel the pain  we endure it, the sun gives in, the moon rises above the peak and our bodies lay empty of strength and full of joy, as the enemy is not a distant stranger but ourselves, the battle is ever lasting against ones self.

We trail back, happy.
